Larry Galluzzo, R.Ph. – Owner/President

In addition to founding Skilled Care Pharmacy in 1981, Larry was co-founder for NetRx, a purchasing group comprising owners of privately held pharmacies and Excel GSO, a group service organization. Larry received his pharmacy degree at University of Cincinnati, and prior to starting Skilled Care Pharmacy, managed a long-term care pharmacy in Cincinnati. A leader in the long-term care industry throughout the region, Larry is a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and the National Council of Prescription Drug Plans. He is also an active participant in the Senior Care Pharmacy Alliance, the Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities, The Association of Ohio Philanthropic Homes and Housing for the Aging, the American College of Nursing Home Administrators and the Assisted Living Association of America.

     
Nancy 5x7 TN  

Nancy Mlinarik – Owner/Vice President

Prior to joining Skilled Care Pharmacy, Nancy spent six years in retail management and 15 years in management/marketing in the long-term care industry. She received a BA in psychology from the University of Toledo. As vice president, she oversees Skilled Care Pharmacy’s marketing, customer service, educational services, financial services and clinical services. Nancy is a member of the Association for Quality and Participation, the Ohio Health Care Association, the Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities and the Association of Ohio Philanthropic Homes and Housing for the Aging. She is a former examiner for the National Malcolm Baldrige Quality Program (2001-2003) and senior examiner for the Ohio Award of Excellence (2004-2005). Nancy is a Certified Internal Auditor for ISO 9000 and a corporate facilitator for the Center of Excellence, an internal quality process.

Christopher S. Kuczek – Director of Finance

Prior to joining Skilled Care Pharmacy, Chris held a variety of executive financial and operational positions with Mead Corporation, Sterling Drug and Hoge-Warren-Zimmermann. He has also served as an outside director for numerous small businesses. He is a graduate of Miami University with a BS/BA degree in accounting, finance and systems analysis. As director of finance, Chris is responsible for administrative services, purchasing and receiving and returns processing. He also leads vendor contract negotiations. A long-time advocate of youth sports, Chris has had operational responsibility for the North Region of Cincinnati Knothole Baseball for the past 20 years and has been a member of its Board of Directors for the past 10 years.

Jo Donovan, RN, BSN – Director, Clinical Education

Jo Donovan’s 30 years in the long-term care industry include posts in QA, nursing education and nursing administration, as well as 10 years as a director of nursing in both skilled and assisted living environments. As director of clinical education, Jo is responsible for coordinating educational activities, including client on-site education and consulting services and mock survey activities for both nursing home and residential care facilities. She also oversees the company’s infusion services and medical records department. Jo received a BS in nursing from the University of Cincinnati and is a member of the Ohio Health Care Association and the Association of Ohio Philanthropic Homes and Housing for the Aging. She has participated on the Board of Examiners for the Ohio Award for Excellence and served as an examiner team leader.

     
MaryAlice 5x7 TN  

Mary Alice Mawer – Director of Human Resources

Mary Alice Mawer established the human resources department at Skilled Care Pharmacy. Prior to joining the pharmacy, she was Human Resources Manager for APCO Power Unit Corporation in Toledo, Ohio. A graduate of the University of Toledo with a BA in liberal studies with a business emphasis, Mary Alice is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management Association (SHRM) and the Greater Cincinnati Human Resources Association (GCHRA). She also has served on the Advocates of Not-for-Profit Services for Older Ohioans (AOPHA) Human Resources Committee. As director of human resources for Skilled Care Pharmacy, Mary Alice is responsible employee relations, recruiting and hiring, training, benefits administration, payroll and internal communications, among other duties.

     
Jackie 5x7 TN  

Jackie L. Maitland – Director of Reimbursement Services, Director of Cleveland Operations

Jackie Maitland’s 25-year career in healthcare includes a variety of leadership positions in contracting, payer relations and reimbursement. Jackie worked for nine years in Long-Term Care Pharmacy and 11 years in hospital pharmacy prior to joining Skilled Care Pharmacy. In her role as director of reimbursement, admissions and Cleveland operations, Jackie oversees payment, reimbursement and admissions for all residents serviced by Skilled Care Pharmacy, as well as daily oversight of the firm’s Cleveland facility. Considered an expert in her field, she often advises clients on appropriate and effective responses to significant changes in reimbursement to nursing homes, pharmacies and residents. Jackie is involved in professional organizations including the Mental Health Association and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.

Joe Cesta, RPH – Director of Director of Consulting Pharmacy/Internal Pharmacy

Joe Cesta’s long career in pharmacy began with a position as nuclear pharmacy manager for Pharmatopes/Syncor in Toledo, Ohio, then later Dayton, and included staff pharmacist with Meijer Pharmacy and Fidelity Prescriptions before opening his own pharmacy, Joseph’s Beacon Hills Pharmacy in 1987, serving retail and the long-term care market. In 1996, he merged his operation with Skilled Care Pharmacy, forming a PIP, Beacon Skilled Care Pharmacy. As the President of Beacon, Joe integrates the two long-term care pharmacies together. His retail operation was converted into a franchise, The Medicine Shoppe. As director of the clinical pharmacist team, both internally and externally, Joe is responsible for carrying out the Skilled Care Pharmacy philosophy of insuring the senior population we serve is not overmedicated, while reducing overall costs to all payors, formulary management, individual consulting with patients when appropriate and training. The pharmacist team is very active mentoring and serving as a clinical site rotation for the Pharmacy schools throughout the state of Ohio, working with 30 - 40 students each year. Joe is active in professional organizations, including the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, the Ohio Pharmacists Association, NetRx and the Senior Care Pharmacy Alliance, and is a graduate of the Ohio Northern University with a BS in pharmacy.

 Sandy Szymanski McLellan, RN, C, BS, Director of Client Services

Prior to joining Skilled Care, Sandy spent 13 years as the VP of Clinical Services and member of the Executive team at a long term care pharmacy.  Her particular strengths are in the regulatory area, quality systems development, communications, and customer service.  She has enjoyed progressive management responsibilities in both the clinical and management arena, and is a former Ohio state surveyor.  Her responsibilities at Skilled Care include supervision of the Communication and Customer Care representatives and new program development with the goal of enhancing the client facilities total experience with the pharmacy.  She received her diploma in nursing from the Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing, and a Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration from the College of Mt. St. Joseph.  She has been continuously certified in Gerontology by the ANCC since 1985, and is a member of the Leading Age Clinical Executive Committee, OHCA Nurses Council, Ohio Directors of Nursing Association, and the National Gerontological Nurses Association. 

     
Garry  

Garry S. Kelly – Director of Information Technology

As director of information technology, Garry Kelly oversees a comprehensive information management system, which includes order entry, medical records, accounting, communications and other vital IT functions, as well as software development. A graduate of Western Kentucky University with a BS in accounting, Garry has held a number of information management positions, including project manager for the Legal System Division of Business Equipment Company; accounting software customer service supervisor and accounting software training supervisor for Florists’ Transworld Delivery (FTD) and customer service and training coordinator for Datarose Systems, Inc.
