Mock Surveys

In order to maintain a consistent quality of care, state and federal board of health officials conduct regular surveys of long-term care facilities. Skilled Care Pharmacy can help ensure you pass these inspections with flying colors by conducting thorough and realistic mock surveys in advance of any official visit.

 

Senior staff from our Clinical Education Department visits your facility exactly as if they were government officials. The difference is that we approach the mock survey as an educational event, with the object of not only pointing out potential regulatory and best-practice deficiencies but also by making specific recommendations about how to improve or correct them. Included in our post-survey report are any forms, policies, procedures, assessments, tracking forms, etc., that we feel may be helpful in bringing your facility into full compliance.

Our experienced infusion nurses are readily available to instruct your nurses about various infusion procedures as well as trouble-shoot either by phone or on-site any problems that the staff is having with the administration of medication and fluids or maintenance of intravenous lines

 

Medication Pass Audits

Medication Pass Audits are conducted as a peer review by nurses from the Clinical Education Department. Just as a government official would, they observe a medication pass paying close attention to standards of practice for medication administration, infection control issues, safety and security and resident rights. Because the audit is considered a teaching opportunity as well, observers will share best practices and performance standards with the nurses.

 

To assist client facilities in independently monitoring medication administration, Skilled Care Pharmacy offers a helpful self-instructional manual as well. The content includes approved techniques sorted by medication route as well as the principles of the drug regimen review and hints for successful survey outcome.
