An efficient system

We provide daily distribution of drugs, delivered directly to each nursing station by one of our own uniformed couriers. Medications are pre-packaged in unit of use for each resident, on a medication delivery cart customized to meet your facility’s needs and reduce nursing time spent handling medications. All resident medications are tracked electronically to simplify reordering.

 

Painless record-keeping

To make record-keeping as accurate, efficient and painless as possible, our integrated information management system generates medical records for each facility and resident, updated daily. In addition to a custom-designed medication administration record that documents medicines, specific diagnoses, ICD codes and side effects, Skilled Care Pharmacy provides customized management reports documenting medication history, laboratory orders, diet orders and summary by drug class.

 

Emergency meds and STAT orders

For non-routine drug administration, Skilled Care Pharmacy maintains an Emergency Medication Kit within each facility that is kept fully stocked with a range of emergency medications. Appropriate control mechanisms maintain the safety and integrity of this service. Consultant pharmacists

In addition to a dedicated service representative, each facility enjoys the services of a dedicated consultant pharmacist. The role of the consultant pharmacist is to individually review the medication profile of each resident — meeting personally with residents — and to make recommendations with the goal of improving the resident’s quality of life. Careful review of each resident’s medication profile results in the recommended discontinuation of more than six drugs for every recommended addition. The consultant pharmacist develops a working relationship with the prescribing physician, who accepts 93% of our recommendations. Combine that with our unique approach to medication substitution and competitive pricing, and you get savings of $1,000/resident/year, on average.

 

Wellness education

Skilled Care Pharmacy also offers resident care training and education through programs such as our Self-Medication Awareness and Responsibility Through Training (SMARTT) classes for assisted living residents, as well as timely health maintenance and disease prevention topics suited for the senior consumer.
