Wesleyan Village was nominated for patient centered care and active work toward improving the lives of their residents, having an education department that does continuous proficiency testing of their nurses to maintain their skills in various areas such as IV Therapy (90 days and then annually).  Additionally, recent remodeling on the rehab unit to better accommodate the residents needs, providing all levels of care – independent living through skilled care (including an Adult Day Away program that offers adult care during the day Mon-Fri for the community), and for your campus clinic in the assisted living facility where the medical director will see residents during clinic hours – a unique concept allowing the medical director to follow the resident’s care throughout the campus as the need arises.

Tells Us More About Wesleyan Village

Wesleyan Village was founded in 1896 and was known as the “Old Ladies Home Association”.  It became affiliated as a ministry of the United Methodist Church in 1907.  It quickly became a home for men as well as women, and continued building and expanding throughout the 1900’s.  Presently, Wesleyan Village has 173 duly certified licensed beds, including 27 private rooms in our 4th floor rehabilitation unit, 247 licensed Residential Care Facility beds (assisted living), and over 180 independent apartments and patio homes on two campuses.  Currently about 285 full time employees work at Wesleyan Village.

Community Involvement

Wesleyan Village is also a central location for many community services and programs.  Service organizations (Rotary, Kiwanis, and other groups) meet weekly in our facility.  We provide a mobile meals program that delivers meals to elderly residents in the Elyria Community.  Wesleyan Village residents and associates are also actively involved in service organizations that support other non-profit organizations in the community (e.g., Lorain County Heart Walk, Alzheimer’s Association, Salvation Army).  In addition, many of our residents and associates are actively involved on the boards of many social service and community service agencies throughout Lorain County and the City of Elyria.
